The left ventricle possesses a significantly thicker myocardial wall than the right ventricle because it must generate substantially higher systolic pressure in order to overcome systemic vascular resistance. In contrast, the right ventricle pumps into the low resistance pulmonary circulation. This difference in afterload produces compensatory hypertrophy of the cardiac muscle fibres, and the resulting pressure gradient ensures adequate perfusion of peripheral tissues throughout the cardiac cycle, as described by the Law of Laplace, which relates wall tension to pressure and chamber radius.

Why is the left side of my heart thicker?

The right side only sends blood next door to your lungs. Your left side sends it around your whole body, so it grows a thicker wall.

Right side bas tumhare lungs tak blood bhejta hai. Left side poore body tak bhejta hai, isliye uski wall thick ho jaati hai.
